Ian Axton

Ian Axton[1] is a British television newsreader.

He presents The West Country Tonight on ITV West and ITV Westcountry, produced by ITV West & Westcountry, he joined the programme in May 2010 following the departure of Steve Scott.[2]

From 2007 - 2009, Axton was the main presenter of Meridian Tonight alongside co-presenter Sangeeta Bhabra in the south-east region of ITV Meridian.

Axton has also presented ITN programmes London Tonight and the ITV News at 5:30, both broadcast on ITV. He has also presented numerous corporate videos. Non-news TV credits include The Boat Show for ITV4 and Climate Change, Make A Difference for ITV. Before his career in television, Ian worked in commercial radio and ran a company which operated a number of stations along the south coast.

Axton has also owned two commercial radio stations, the Sony Award winning Andover Sound in North West Hampshire and Newbury Sound in West Berkshire. They were sold on 19th August 2011 to Celador Radio Broadcasting.
